I wanted to share the cards we made at the July Creative Card class. This one is very simple using a half sheet of Whisper White cardstock, punch out the oval with the large oval punch, then emboss the oval with the oval embossing frame, mark where the image goes lightly with a pencil then stamp the image in Stayzon, then color in with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive. Tie a knot with the Daffodil Delight seam binding ribbon. Finish it off with the wish big stamp from Word Play (120308 wood, 120651 clear) in Stayzon.

Super simple.

This card was CASEd right out of the new catalog (page 113). I made it into a regular sized card. Theirs was a 6x3 card. I embossed with the rectangular frame embossing folder in the middle of the card, sponged over it with crime cake ink, and added a rectangle cut from Midnight Muse cardstock into the center of the frame. Then I punched out two scallop ovals from the First Edition DSP, then attached a piece of crochet ribbon to the ovals with dimensionals. I ran Very Vanilla cardstock through the Big Shot with the Apothecary Accents Framelits, the I stamped the flower image from Elements of Style (118611 wood, 120045 clear) in Soft Suede ink and then colored in with the Rose Red and Old Olive watercolor crayons and blended with the aqua painter. This one was very easy. We used Perfect Plum as the background, layered with Basic Black and Very Vanilla. I ran a piece of Perfect Plum through the Big Shot with the oval embossing folder, and then cut it out with the Labels Collections Framelits. I stamped the leaf image and the greeting from Just Believe (116948 wood, 120453 clear) in Old Olive on First Edition DSP and punched it out with the large oval punch.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Projects We will accept donated cards with envelopes to give to Ronald McDonald House Charities. We’ll collect cards and envelopes and distribute them to various houses for their guests to use. If you would like to participate in this voluntary project, please follow the guidelines listed below:

Cards should be the standard quarter-page size (4-1/4" x 5-1/2"). Unlike swaps that are just a
card front, your creation will need to be a complete card.

Cards for every occasion are acceptable. Thank you, thinking of you, seasonal, birthday, wedding, shower, anniversary cards, and cards that are blank inside are all needed.

Do not include personal information on the card.

Insert a card into an envelope before you put it in our donation basket. Do not seal the envelope.

Bring the completed cards and envelopes with you to the
event.

As we welcome summer, it also marks the time to say goodbye to some stamp sets to make room for new and improved ones. So, for this month's class, I pulled out an old greeting set that has been well-loved over the years. I'm talking about the Sincere Salutations set.

This card is so simple, but summery. Old olive serves as the base of the card, followed by a layer of Melon Mambo. Top that off with a pice of Basic Black ran through a texture plate for some texture, and lastly a piece of Confetti White card stock. The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo ink and the knot-bow is also Melon Mambo. For the watermelon slice, I used the two larger circles on the Circles #2 die, the largest circle in Old Olive and the next largest in Confetti White cardstock. The melon part is punched from Melon Mambo cardstock with the 1 3/4 inch circle punch. Cut all these circles in half for two melon slices. For that authentic watermelon look, use the blossom punch in black for the seeds. Mmmmm, yummy!

I just love the look of this set, as you can tell by looking at my stamps--they are well-used. It's elegant and simple, and perfect for almost any occasion. Don't miss out on getting yours. They are only available for one more week, and then they are gone for good. To order, click here to go to my ordering website.Stampin with Ginahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18325819015102399033noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2334639813655700916.post-35693873774067814262012-04-30T22:56:00.000-06:002012-04-30T22:56:49.111-06:00Marking up your die cutters, it's a good thing!I just did my first video! It's a bit blurry because I was using my Canon camera on manual focus, and apparently I can't focus! Check it out anyway and let me know what you think. (Oh and by the way, not sure why it sounds like I am lisping, I don't think I do that in real life. Hmmmm.
(I really need to change that top banner of my blog, it's May Day tomorrow for Pete's sake.)
Stampin with Ginahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18325819015102399033noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2334639813655700916.post-65250847594486758532012-04-16T21:53:00.001-06:002012-04-16T22:09:33.064-06:00Wow, I have been MIA for a while now! Time sure flies by. I can't believe it's already spring.

I wanted to share this super cute card with you. Thanks for my friend Cindy Russell for showing us how to do this. I know it's way past Easter, but this is so adorable I just had to share this project. We made this at an Ink Inc Shoebox Swap. The Shoebox Swap is one of the perks we enjoy as a demonstrator where we all get together for fun, sharing and of course, stamping. Want to know more? Just ask me.

Back to the bunny. This card was made with a multitude of punches (including one that has retired). The background was made with the Woodgrain background stamp (117100 - $17.95) with Soft Suede ink (115657 - $5.95) on a half sheet of Crumb Cake cardstock ((120953 - $$6.95). Punch out a rabbit hole using the 1-3/4" punch (119850 - $16.95). Also punch out circle in Whisper White Cardstock (100730 - $8.50), four large ovals (119859 - $15.95), one ornament punch (119847 - $16.95), two 3/4" circles (119873 - 10.95) and three large flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch (119858 - $16.95). You will also need four small oval pieces punched out (this is the retired punch) and a small triangle cut from Pretty in Pink cardstock (100459 - $6.95), and some small circles from the cupcake builder punch (121807 - $16.95). i know that sounds like a lot of punches, and if you don't have them all, right now you are in luck because a lot of them that are in the old style are on clearance. You can go here to order them, but do it soon because when they are gone, they are gone.

Okay, back to the bunny. On the ornament punch cut off the hangy deal (I know, technical right) part of paper to create the bunny head. Sponge all the edges of the white and pink punched pieces to give them a little dimension. Position the white circle about 3/4 of the way up on the "rabbit hole" on the crumbcake piece, and adhere. Add two large ovals for the feet, and then two pink pieces to finish the feet. Add two of the flowers, layering offset to create the cottontail. If desired, use the Pretty in Pink marker to add lines to the feet. You are now done with the outside of the card.

Open the card to the inside and adhere the remaining flower for the other side of the cottontail. Add the remaining large white ovals and smaller pink ovals for the ears, then layer the ornament punch (pointy side up) for the head. Add the two 3/4 inch circles for the cheeks, to small dots from the cupcake punch (or you can just color them in) in black for the eyes, and a small scrap triangle of pink for the nose.

Draw the whiskers in with the black marker. Tada! You have a super cute bunny to send to that special someone.

Don't forget, card class is this Wednesday. Come and make some great cards for $20. Please let me know if you plan to attend so I can have your packet ready.

Happy Stampin'!
I enjoy this time of year, getting to visit with my aunts, uncles and cousins. It's kinda sad that we only get together a few times a year, but I always enjoy seeing them, even if it is only for a short time. Most of my relatives live here in Colorado, so that makes it a little easier to get together, we just get busy with day-to-day activities. Like stamping! :0)

Can you believe in just a few short days, 2011 will be behind us and we will begin 2012. It seems the older I get, the faster time flies by. Speaking of time flying by, there are only a few more days left of the Holiday Mini Catalog, so if you absolutely love some of the stuff in there, you may want to order it soon. The last day to order out of that catalog is January 3, 2012, so if you absolutely love those mini jingle bells, you may think about placing an order either with me or from my website by clicking here.

From what I have heard, the little white card boxes, the stocking punch and stamp set, and the silver glimmer paper are not making the carryover list, so definitely if you want those, you should order them by January 3. I love those little boxes, and you can customize them any way you would like, including the tabbed dividers inside.

The stocking punch can be used for much more that just a Christmas stocking. You can use blue or pink and make cute little baby booties for a card, or flip it upside down to create a stick horse. You can also cut out little blades and turn the stocking into ice skates for a great winter card.

And the glimmer paper is to die for, and you can customize it with ink and sponge daubers to create a color to coordinate with your projects. I am so sad to see these go.

Check out the clearance rack going on now too. The old style (black whale-looking) punches are being discontinued, but work just as well as the new ones, so you could stock up on the ones you don't have for a great price. Click here to go to the Clearance Rack page.

I am working on some new things to come in 2012, including a possible online hostess club where you can stamp from the comfort of your own home.

Also January, February and March are a great time to book your workshops with me. Sale-a-Bration is just around the corner, and you could earn exclusive stamps and accessories that will not ever be in a future catalog. The only way to get them is during Sale-a-Bration and they are so super cute, you are just going to love them.

Lots to come in the new year, so keep checking back and tell your friends too.
I hope you have a safe and happy New Year's day.
It usually snows and then clears up in no time. This was not the case Wednesday night. It started snowing hard while we were in Longmont Wednesday about 5:30 or 6 p.m. It was pretty and really big flakes. It became a little stressful though driving through it, even though we were in a four-wheel drive truck. The normal 20-30 minute drive home took way longer than that.

By 6 a.m. Thursday morning, we had a lot of snow. The weather forecasters weren't kidding. I opened the door to let the dogs out and the snow was all the way up to the bottom of the door. The dogs looked at me like "you have got to be kidding. I'm not going out in that." Needless to say, I stayed home. My car sits really low to the ground and ground clearance was not good. Even the trash trucks were sliding around in our cul-de-sac.

The good thing is I finally got some ornaments on our tree. Not all of them, mind you, but I did get on my favorites. Here's some of the pics.

Where did the year go? It seems like every year goes by faster and faster. It has been a crazy few months around here. Hopefully things will slow down a bit and I can refocus on posting some stamping project on my blog.

Our team is working on some exciting changes to come and I think you will enjoy them. Stay tuned for the details to come most likely after the first of the year.

There are some great products coming your way soon, and Sale-a-bration will be here before you know it. Now is the time to start thinking about booking a workshop in January, February or March, so you can get in on the free goodies that happen during Sale-a-Bration.

Also, there is only one month left to order from the holiday mini catalog, so if you have some faves, you want to be sure to get them before they are gone.
All the cards used the Gently Falling stamp set from the Holiday Mini catalog. I absolutely LOVE this stamp set. It is great for masculine cards, but also those fall cards with the beautiful colors. I swear my favorite color combo is More Mustard and Concord Crush.

The first one is using Concord Crush, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the oak leaf image in Versamark and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I stamped the En Francais image over that in Soft Suede (upside down I might add -- oops, don't tell anyone--shhh!) The I sponged Wisteria Wonder over the embossed leaf image. Tie it together with Wisteria Wonder ruffle ribbon (gotta love the ruffles), and place on a square lattice background. This card was inspired by one made by my friends Cindy Russell, and then modified by Tara Bazata.
I love the cooler days, the pretty colors of the trees as they change daily, and the leaves falling, making a crunching sound as you walk on them. I could, however do without the fall allergies - they are killer!

I also love decorating for Halloween. I found these great witches boots at Real Deals in Longmont, which I absolutely LOVE! They make for a cute display in our living room.
I am super duper excited to share these great new products with you.

First off, we have a fabulous new tool that is a total must-have in your stampin' supplies. It is the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and I absolutely LOVE this thing. It has little markers that you can position so you can keep track of where you are scoring. It has grooves every 1/8 inch, rulers on both sides (very handy), a stylus that snaps into the tool so you don't lose it, and a little door in the back to hold extra place markers, stylus tools, or even little chocolate bars. Now making those little medallions is soooo much easier!

Then there are awesome new stamp sets for Fall, Winter, Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Valentine's Day, along with some great Designer Series Paper. New coordinating Digital Downloads for our My Digital Studio are also available. But what I am super excited about is all the accessories. We now have little treat bags that measure 1" x 8" for little candies, Kraft boxes perfect for packaging cupcakes or cookies to give, Spice Cake Designer Fabric to coordinate with your projects, HUGE designer buttons, Mica Flakes to simulate snow or to add a little sparkle to your projects,Velvet ribbon, Mini jingle bells, stitched felt, glimmer paper, Dazzling Details and sooo much more.

I met some really great ladies (Dee, i snagged your picture) who love thrifting and really you had to love it because we went to three, yes THREE Goodwill stores in one day! Whew! Good think I had pretty comfortable shoes on.

Lou, Anne, DeAnna, Diana, me and Kath at the Leetsdale Goodwill.

These ladies really knew how to shop and got some great stuff. I was simply amazed.

Here is what I scored and I was so excited. I found this great silver tray that I want to put a chalkboard middle on it to leave love messages for my family. I know they will love that (probably not, but they are gonna get them anyway). I don't know what happened to my picture so I will post that later.

And then Joe (yes, Joe braved the Goodwill stores with us-he is so awesome) found this fabulous mirror hiding behind some of the pictures.

Then I found this great looking book. It's actually a cook book so I may get some good recipes from it too.

But this is the best find of the day. On the left is my lantern that I picked up for $1.50 and I thought it looked similar to one I had seen at Pottery Barn, so I snagged that in a hurry. It needed a little wax cleanup, but it was really cool looking.

Not only can you get the new InColor colors (which are soooo pretty), but you can also get last year's colors. That's right, they are sticking around for another year! WooHoo! I am so excited because I really didn't get to use them as much as I wanted to. Concord Crush, you're hangin' with me baby!

There are so many exciting products in here that I can't wait to get my hands on! New ribbons in new colors and textures, new Designer Series Paper, punches, texture folders and letterpress plates, OH MY!!!
I will have retired stamp sets, paper, and some accessories for sale. Some of these sets are brand new and some of them are a little "loved," but they are all in usable condition.

I will also have munchies just in case you are hungry.

Please let me know if you plan on attending so that I can have your make and take project ready.

Until June 29, (2011) I am offering a 20% discount on Stampin' Up! products to anyone who places a $50 order or more through me. That's right, you can get $10 off your $50 order (not including tax and shipping) or save even more by ordering more. There are a few rules - your order must be at least $50 before tax and shipping, all orders must be placed through me (I can't offer it if you order online), and all orders must be submitted by June 29.

The best part is, you can choose any of the retiring stamp sets, or anything that will remain in the new catalog. Just remember, if you are looking at any accessories that are on the last chance list, when those are gone, they are gone--unlike the stamp sets that can be ordered until the end of the month.

So, if you would like to take advantage of this super Happy Birthday to me sale (which you could use to stock up), then call or email me today.

Don't miss this!
I am sooooo far behind in my blog posts. Looks like I need to update my header too.

So much has been happening here at our house, I feel so outta control! We have had teenagers drama, home renovation, rehab for my parents (sort of), and then just every day life mixed in with a few card classes.

The teenagers drama really is really just part of having a teen. All their friends come over, which I really don't mind, I actually like having them here. But sometimes they have their arguments and such between themselves and sometimes their parents, you know, just basic everyday life which is to be expected I guess. No biggie. I am actually very lucky to have all of them in my life.

But if you add to that the drama of your parents hurting themselves and then you become parents to them as well, well that's a WHOLE 'nother Oprah! My mom fell down in February and fractured her femur. Well I have discovered they say fracture for just about anything. She really "dented" the end of her femur bone at the knee. We have had to work with her to get it moving again and for 10 weeks she was not allowed to put ay weight on it, so she used her walker to hop around the house. Her poor hip and leg would get so tired from hopping. Finally she was told to start walking on it with the walker, which she has done great with. She has even migrated to using her cane instead. Hopefully they will tell her this week that she doesn't have to use them anymore.

Then in the middle of that, my dad took a tumble down the stairs. Yep, about 1 am, he fell from the top of the stairs to the bottom, knocked his head on the little refrigerator in the basement and knocked himself out, woke up, tried to clean himself off, went BACK upstairs and went to bed. My mom called me the next morning in a panic. He looked like someone had taken a bat to his head. He was all bloody and he had a black eye. We joke with him because he managed to get from the basement, where he left traces of his little accident all over, to upstairs where the only mess was his pillow and the bed a little, where he must have laid his head. We took him to the ER and four hours later all he had was five stitches (and a couple black eyes by that time). He was so lucky it wasn't so much worse.

In May, Josh was awarded with a letter from Bollman Technical for his work in Auto Tech.

We are so proud of him for this accomplishment. This seems to be where his passion lies, and we are working with him to get into college in this field. I think he will be going to Arapahoe Community College for their auto program in the fall, but this seems to change every so often. I think he will be very successful in this field. He has always had his head in the cars in some capacity, ever since he was little, anything with wheels has always fascinated him.

We also decided in May to renovate our living room. Well actually, my dog decided for us. She is getting really old and apparently could not tell the difference between my beige/white carpet and the green grass outside. Since she is a family member, we decided to get rid of the carpet. We put down an engineered hardwood floor, which we began about mid-April and finally finished Mother's Day weekend. It looks beautiful now, but this particular hardwood you had to glue down. We would work on it a little at a time. It would take two hours to put down about two feet x the width of the room worth of floor. Plus, we had to pull up some tile from the entry way into the family room, which really didn't want to come up. Here's the beginning process - yikes!!!!!

And here's the finished product. I love it. I still need to add in some accents with some color, but it is so much better than before.

Next we need to paint the family room. Sigh, and so it continues, but it is so needed and so worth it in the end. Right?
So I modified the directions a little bit from an earlier post.

This is so me! Plus I find that it carries over into my card making and stamping projects as well.

French Eclectic
Parlez-vous français? Even if the answer is no, you can confidently say your home does! French Country, like its name, somehow manages to both be formal and casual, classy and unassuming at the same time. You like your spaces to feel inviting from the moment you (or your guest) opens the front door and this feeling should continue even after you've entered your most formal room. Even though there are French antiques here and gold details there, the rustic elements provide a balance and warmth that seems to say, "come in, relax and stay a while." Your love of antiques leads you to flea markets, garage sales and hours of eBay hunting.

Materials
The materials and pieces you are drawn to play on the mix of formal and casual. Many of the pieces look like they were passed down from your great-great-aunt (even if they are brand new!) and you managed to upholster them in a way that made that piece both then and now. Much of the furniture is wood-framed and the wood is either left natural (hey there rustic!), painted white (hey there country!) or even gold (hello refinement!). And many times there is a strong mixture of all of these. If you find yourself leaning much more towards the "country" side of things and away from the Parisian side, drop the gold details and replace them with wrought iron.

Colors
When it comes to color, you are drawn to bright and airy options. Thoughts of the French countryside are key - warm colors such as yellows, reds and oranges hinting at fields of gold. But the nice thing about French Eclectic is you can just as easily go in the opposite direction: pale blues and greens hinting at acres of lavender fields and expansive blue skies.

Space Planning
When you think about laying out your French Eclectic room the key is to invite people in and encourage them to stay. So furniture should be grouped nicely to encourage intimate conversation and the main pieces should be comfortable in both look and feel. There should be plenty of places to set drinks, prop feet and lean back. And yet the functionality of these pieces doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't beautiful antiques or replicas.

Wine Country Style
Tuscan sun, here we come! The Wine Country Style reflects the feelings evoked by the seaside regions of Europe such as the South of France, Spain, Italy and Greece. The style manages to be both refined and casual, such that you can mix beautiful antiques with more rustic wrought iron or wood and the result is both sophisticated and cozy. Furniture is large and comfortable, colors are bright and cheery, and regardless of the color palette the spaces almost always feel warm. You can easily translate the style into the perfect family environment but you can just as easily emphasize the more formal pieces and make your room the perfect adult getaway.

Materials
To those with a Wine Country sense of style, texture is very important because of how it imitates the surrounding landscape. Walls are often made of plaster or stucco, or faux finishes that emulate these textures. Rough-hewn or wrought iron is very common in tables, chairs, lamps and accessories. Natural pine is also common, although darker stained woods are more popular. The wood pieces (chairs, tables, armoires) are large in scale and each piece has a good sense of presence in the room. Mosaic tiles are very popular for flooring as well as accents on tabletops and other furniture.

Colors
When it comes to color, Wine Country Style literally attempts to mimic the landscape of the regions. Earthy tones such as yellow, orange and red highlight the golden hillsides and beautiful sunsets. Blues, lavenders and greens mimic the fields and countryside in springtime. Focusing on the blues and whites imitates the seaside and white sandy beaches.

Classic
What's old is new again! The beauty of Classic Style is how well it takes all of the beautiful forms, colors and textures of the past and reinvents them in a way that feels both fresh and inspired. The style itself is a mix of European influences and French, English and Italian antiques and replicas are often used together. Furniture is well proportioned and comfortable and the rooms give off an air of sophistication and grace. Oil paintings depicting a still life or nature scenes and emphasizing symmetry of pairs helps maintain the Classic nature of the room. Windows are often covered with opulent fabric shades and/or drapery. Classic rooms give off an air of history that seems to say: "I was here long before you, and will remain long after you've gone." And yet, even with this level of sophistication, the rooms are soft and inviting.

Materials
Classic rooms are filled with texture and deep color. Walls are often saturated in color and many times have an old-world faux finish to hint of days gone by. Dark stained wood is very common and is often distressed. Additionally, gold, bronze and silvers have a natural-looking patina to them that softens their shine. Maps and animal prints are common, and fringe and tassels are often used to trim pillows, drapery and cushions. Genuine antiques are mixed with replicas and found objects become sculptural elements in the room. Wallpaper is a very popular way to bring additional color and texture to the room, and the patterns are usually reminiscent of traditional European styling.

Colors
Common colors are creams, and rich versions of traditional colors such as burgundy, dark green and navy blue. Golds and yellows are also popular as many Classic rooms have a very warm tone to them. That being said, greens and blues can also be tailored to take on the Classic feel. The color, whatever it may be, almost always has a regal air to it and many times you will see faux finishing to highlight the aged feel of the color.
