So honored to share this with you

I am so honored to share this project with you tonight. I follow the glue gun queen Lindsay at  www.Livingwithlindsay.com, and she had sent out a tweet about some really cool pillows at Target that she loved except the colors didn't work for her decor.
She was asking if anyone knew how to make the flowers on the pillow, and low and behold - yes I do!

You may remember one of the projects I posted before Christmas where I took book and a foam wreath from the dollar store and turned it into a work of art (it's still hanging on my wall). Well I totally followed her instructions on how to make it.

Anywho, I got home from work and the gym today and set to work on creating these fabric flowers.

I sent them to her via TwitPic and SHE asked ME how I did it! OMG! I am so stoked! Woot Woot!!
Anyway here's the scoop:

Cut a circle from fabric or felt.
Cut a 2 inch wide strip of fabric. You may need two depending on how large you want the flower.

Have your helper/inspector hold down your material. (Tee hee)
Fold one end into a point

Put a puddle of hot glue in the middle of the circle
Put the tip of the strip of material in the puddle

Twist the strip, and wind around into the middle glue puddle, and keep twisting as you go

Add more glue around the outside of the twisted middle part of the flower, twist and turn the strip and wind around into the glue

Continue until the whole circle is covered.

You can either wrap the tail end around the back as I have done here, or tuck it up under the flower.

And Voila! fabric flowers ready to attach to a headband, pillow or whatever your heart desires.

Now it's your turn to create your very own fabric flowers. Send me your pix--I would love to see your creations and I may even post them here.

PS - I would have done a video, but I haven't figured out how to position the camera so that I won't knock it over in the process.

I will post instructions for the other flower shortly, right now it's time for beddie-by. I gotta work tomorrow.

Hugs,
Gina ;0)

  7. Hi Gina! Thanks for this great how to. A few weeks ago I sat down with strips of fabric and tried to figure out how to make fabric flowers. It took me a few tries but I got the hang of it. I love the look and will use them for living room pillows I am making. I am sure many will find this tutorial useful.
